Our Montessori facility is characterized by an age-mixed group of children. This means that children in the age range of three years are placed in one common space. The age difference allows children to develop mutual relationships without rivalry and competition through free cooperation. Older children spontaneously share their knowledge and skills with younger ones, and, vice versa, younger children find help and support from their older friends when needed, so they don’t always have to turn to the teacher for help. This is one of the sources of cohesion of the children’s collective in the Montessori classroom. The different ages promote cooperation and minimize competition. This reduces self-centeredness and encourages children to help each other, which is very important in today’s world. When an older pupil teaches something the younger one, it is also the best way for him to learn. That is why in our center “Kristáľové deti” we accept children from the age of 1.5 years to 6 years.
